The Black and White Lowdown On Hi-Def and Blu-Ray

The Black and White Lowdown On Hi-Def and Blu-Ray

Hi-Def. We knew when we heard that it was coming, that things were going to change in how we view TV forever.

People were excited and they bought new television sets to prepare for this change.

So HDTV has arrived.  TV salespeople are now pushing Blu-Ray.  Some people question if they need Blu-Ray…. Wondering if Hi-Def alone is good enough.  They also question as to whether or not this is like the time when people had to choose Plasma or LCD.  Or years ago upon the invention of the VCR – having to choose between VHS or Beta.  Or when people had to choose between 8-Track and Cassette. One choice would stay, one would go.  But eventually both would fade away for yet again something new.

This choice isn’t as easy as black and white to color TV.  And even with retailers making very attractive sales deals because people have cut back on spending, the choice still isn’t so simple.

But let’s take a closer look at this.  Wait….  You don’t have to. It’s the clearest picture ever, right in front of your face.

Personally, when looking at the difference between regular Hi-Def and Blu-Ray, the choice is clear.  I like Hi-Def better as it is.  It is already leaps and bounds better than the old analog black-and-white rabbit-eared manual dial TV I grew up with.  And when color and the remote control were invented, who could ask for anything more?

Salespeople will say ‘But with Blu-Ray, it’s like you’re REALLY THERE….’   And my thought is. … why have a TV viewing experience like you’re really there?

I don’t want to feel like I am really there with the gunfire, blood and guts in action films.  I don’t want to get a for-real up close look at the decaying teeth of the crazy guests on Springer and I most certainly don’t want to see the in-person three-dimensional puke of the Real Worlders or the true absorbancy demos of diapers in Pampers commercials.   I’m quite happy with TV as it is, thank you very much.

In my eyes, where my vision is improving….I see no reason for Blu-Ray.  It’s just one MORE reason to keep you indoors as a hermit shut-in away from experiencing real life in person, for yourself.

You  know…LIKE YOU’RE REALLY THERE!
