HOLIDAY HUMBUG

HOLIDAY HUMBUG

Dashing through the smog,

on a typical L.A. day….

Everyone’s grumpy here,

Stressed for holidays.

Sig-alert on the 405,

Traffic on the 101,

Backed up on the 210.

Oh, it’s so much fun!

Well, it’s that time of year again. And as the holidays roll around, I have to question the manners of Los Angelenos.  Where have they gone?

While it is no secret everyone who lives in L.A. hates the traffic, why is it that people haven’t accepted yet, that if you plan to go holiday shopping, you can EXPECT traffic and more of it than you normally experience during a regular workday commute?

Getting frustrated isn’t going to help the situation.  Being rude and flipping people off, cutting people off, yelling, screaming and honking are not going to improve upon the situation, so why do it?

I think it’s hypocritical to proclaim how much you love the holidays and want to spread holiday cheer, when the process of the season goes on with the worst behavior, loss of manners and increase in rudeness as you inch closer to the date on the calendar.  It’s not as if the holiday season is a surprise. It appears the same time each year, like clockwork.  So why stress?  Why be rude?  And why take it out on the rest of the public, when you didn’t plan your holiday shopping, say…. In JULY or AUGUST?

Everyone has the same goal – to enjoy the season, so there just isn’t any point to try to make it miserable for others.
