CLEAN-UP
A friend once told me 'Unclutter your environment, unclutter your mind..." And at the time I didn't know how profound that statement actually was.
The more time goes on, the more you accumulate. And sometimes the best way to literally get 'unstuck' by your environment is to set yourself free by cleaning.
While some may look at domestic chores as just that, a 'chore'... I think it's time we embrace how therapeutic cleaning actually can be.
The old rule of thumb is that if you haven't worn/used/consumed something in a year, it's time to toss, give away to charity, donate, sell or whatever. Basically, you just have to get rid of it....whatever the IT is.
Cleaning is much more than vacuuming, dusting, wiping, and such, the tossing part is key to getting yourself to a minimalist state. This in itself can be a time where you get really introspective in thought and discover more things about yourself, your habits, and more in tune with what makes you tick. This is also a time when you can see just how much 'stuff' you really DON'T NEED and that living life in a minimalist way can be very rewarding to your psyche as well as your 'space.'
Doing a great 'clean-up' job can actually free you of many burdens, emotional strings, and also be a very liberating experience. There is a sense of accomplishment in cleaning aside from all the health and allergy benefits of doing this mundane 'task.'
While most of us groaned as children about the act of actually having to 'clean' - I think that we each can learn a lot about ourselves in this process of taking on the task.
Not only can this be very enlightening, but a true pathway into CHANGING your life as well.
CLEAN-UP... it's a wonderful thing, beit on aisle 9, your garage or at your desk. Take a moment today to clean something and bask in the feeling of how great this clean-up really feels!
Happy dusting!
